Two quick announcements this week which bode well for OpenID:
It’s fantastic to see the largest and fastest growing social network (in the US anyway) and a major online payment provider both joining the momentum behind the open stack and the assembled web.

Interesting moves. I’m really hoping that Facebook can help improving the user experience of OpenID. They do a much better with Facebook Connect at the moment.
Indeed, though it is much easier when you exert the control Facebook does. OpenID is trying to create a distributed environment open to any two parties, whereas Facebook Connect controls one side of the equation.
That said, I do think examples like the recent Google-Plaxo Hybrid approach show that (significant) improvement is possible even in the open stack.
