Summer Reading List

Updated 5/31/08 - Like The Wealth of Networks, Two of these books are also available online: Two Bits and The Future of the Internet - and How to Stop It.

Here’s my summer reading list. Tell me what I’m missing.

It’s a bit heavy, I know, but this is the kind of stuff I find interesting.

What are you reading this summer? What key new text have I left out?

Ha, I just bought the first two as a 2-for-1 deal at Amazon. The only Internet-relevant book I’ve read recently (and I think I may have already bugged you about) was Halting State by Charlie Stross. It’s a interesting and fun take on the future of MMORGs, social networking, geo-location and the interplay of meat space and virtual space.

Funny, I’m about to post a list of what I’m reading currently, but just wanted to mention “Made to Stick” by Chip & Dan Heath. Very interesting read about communicating ideas to masses.

Hey, look over there! (steals reading list).

Oh ok, here’s something in return. I’d recommend to other folks in the Web 2.0 world: “Johnny Bunko”

thanks for the plug john… it’s great to be in such illustrious company, hope I can hold my own ;)

John Says:

@tom - you did mention Halting State before - in fact I had checked it out of the library but it got recalled before I started reading it. Guess I’ll have to buy a copy.

@onur - I’ve had Made to Stick recommended several times - I will check it out.

@lizkdc - thanks for the Johnny Bunko recommendation. I loved A Whole New Mind (one of Pink’s other books).

@chris - while waiting for my physical copy to arrive I started reading the PDF - definitely good stuff so far. Looking forward to getting further into it.

@all - sorry for the generic Gravatar avatars - clearly something’s gone wrong in my avatar plugin - maybe an interaction with the caching plugin? I’ll take a look.

Bullets of “Designing for the Social Web” by Joshua Porter « My Perspective Says:

[...] got interested, and bought his book (even before it was published :)). When it got on John’s summer reading list, I was sure that the book is going to be good… and, oh yeah, it [...]
