3D Fail Whale

Via Rod Begbie comes this video by Hil:

It’s a kinetic sculpture of the Fail Whale, an illustration by Yiying Lu which is often seen by twitter users.

Anyone care to write a greasemonkey script that will replace the default fail whale with this video whenever Twitter displays it? At least then it will feel like things are moving . . .

Cultural Significance of Free Software: Two Bits

I’ve mentioned Chris Kelty‘s Two Bits as part of my summer reading list. Although I have the PDF sitting in my “to read” folder I think I’m waiting on the hardcover I ordered from Amazon. Seems like the kind of book that requires more reflective reading.

Web Content 2008 Presentation

Wednesday was day two of Web Content 2008, and I presented in the afternoon on the rise of user-contributed content and community, and the impact that’s had on content management.

I had thought about calling it “From Content Management to Community Management” or maybe “Content Management is Dead” but ended up instead with: “Upload, Tag, Share, Discuss: Content Management in the Age of Participation.”

Enterprise 2.0 Panel on Open Source
